Right then we are done with this game but the thrill surrounding the semi-final spot continues with a high-octane game between Pakistan Under-19 and Bangladesh Under-19 edging its closure. All you need is to switch tabs and join in for ball-to-ball coverage of that game. Till then cheers!
Ben McKinney the winning captain of England Under-19 says they wanted to bat first and give everybody some time out to bat. He talks about Tazeem Ali and says he hardly gets it wrong and bowled pretty well in this game. He further talks about the tournament and says they did not perform well when it mattered the most. He further says that as a team they are very strong together and the coaching staff has also been calm and have been pretty special.
The losing skipper of Zimbabwe Under-19 Matthew Schonken says he is disappointed with the performance of the side. Adds that they need to work the most on their batting and all the boys will take this learning from this tournament. Mentions that they have benefited from this level of cricket and it's a great step in the right direction for everyone in the squad.
Tazeem Ali is the player of the match for his outstanding spell with the ball. He says he is happy with the result and is even more pleased to have contributed to the win. He adds that he got used to the wickets and bowled the right lines. He then says that the first couple of games did not have so much turn but later on he started to use the crease and the pitch became a bit more favourable for spin. He concludes that he hopes to play well and says it's been a nice experience and the hospitality of the South Africans has been pleasant.
Stay tuned for the presentation ....
Earlier in the game, after being asked to bat first. England Under-19 started on the front foot but the fall of wickets kept things tight for the majority of the game. Theo Wylie and Charlie Allison played good innings as both scored half-centuries with scores of 61 and 76 respectively. Haydon Mustard too played a good hand of 41 in the team's cause but missed out on a half-century as he was run out. Once England Under-19 scored over 200 it was always going to be a big ask for Zimbabwe Under-19. Their bowlers though bowled well with Newman Nyamhuri picking up a couple while others chipped in with wickets as well.
The bowlers of England Under-19 were all over their opponents in the blink of an eye. Charlie Barnard took the wickets of Panashe Gwatiringa and Ronak Patel in the same over that started the collapse which was executed by Tazeem Ali. Tazeem Ali was simply unplayable and the pace at which he bowled was too hot to handle for the batters of Zimbabwe Under-19. Tazeem Ali was the pick of the bowlers by far as he scalped 7 wickets while Charlie Barnard took a couple as well. Jaydn Denly too chipped in with a wicket to his name.
Chasing down a decent total against a quality bowling line-up, the Zimbabwe Under-19 under-19 innings started with a bit of fight shown by both Panashe Gwatiringa and Panashe Taruvinga but once the first wicket fell it all fell apart for Zimbabwe Under-19 as they never managed to built a partnership of any sorts. There wasn't any promise shown by the batters of Zimbabwe Under-19 and it was just a solo attempt from Panashe Taruvinga that helped the side score a respectable total while chasing. Only two Zimbabwean batters managed to get into double figures with Panashe Taruvinga top-scoring with 30 to his name.
With the help of a tremendous spell by Tazeem Ali, England Under-19 ends the campaign on a high as they defeat Zimbabwe Under-19 by 146 runs.
